Introduction
Chapter 1: Power and Authority—Who are You?
Acts 19:11-20
Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” 16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.
I was watching this News conference the other day and there was a big fight about to take place and you know how they get together and stand face to face, giving each other mean looks. One of the guys did not only give mean looks, he had a mouth. I mean he was talking on how bad he was going to beat the other guy up, etc., and the other guy just listened.
Come the day of the match, they get into the ring, the guy that was talking so loud earlier on, was running away from the opponent the entire match. The opponent that never talked, went right up to him and knocked him out cold.
You know, a lot of Christians are just like that. They are like little chihuahua—all talk on Sunday morning—I’ve got the victory, Jesus is King and Lord of my life, the devil can’t touch me, I have authority over him…, etc. these Christians talk a lot on Sunday but when Monday comes, and the devil just gives a little cough, they run to the pastor for prayer. Where was the authority you confessed on Sunday? What happened to the victory you were speaking?
The thing about it is that we have to get away from the talking and start the working. Paul was doing great and mighty miracles, even demons were cast out by laying of handkerchiefs from Paul.
They saw Paul doing all these signs and miracles, preaching and casting out devils in the name of Jesus. So, the Jewish exorcists decided to try out the name of Jesus on the demons, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” And what did the devil say? He said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” Not only did the devils talk back to them, but they came on them, stripped them naked and sent them running down the street.
I want to let you know there are so many people that are hurting today and they are full of devils. And those devils are saying, “I know Jesus, I know so and so but who are you?” The devil should know your name. If he knows your name, that means he recognizes the power and authority that is in Jesus’ name in you.
I was listening to a testimony from Schmbuck, he was preaching and ministering in New York city with A. A. Allen. Two heavy-weights of faith and this very wealthy person had come in a limousine. It was a woman full of devils. They asked A. A. Allen if he would go and cast the devil out, he took Schmbuck with him, they got into the car—Schmbuck on one side, Allen on the other and the woman in the middle. And the devil manifested through the woman and said, “Ohhh, you brought Schmbuck with you.” Allen got excited and said to Schmbuck, “Even the devil knows your name.”
When you do the work of the Lord, devils will know your name, the world will know who to turn to when trouble comes because they see the power and the glory of God upon your life. They will run to you instead of running to drugs and alcohol. They will run to you before trying to kill themselves.
The world is dying all around us, people are dealing with mental anguish and pain, unforgiveness and hopelessness. People are dealing with lack of truth and wondering what is real. The Bible says that creation yearns for the manifestation of the sons of God. We are the ones that are supposed to bring deliverance, healing and peace to their lives by preaching about Jesus and using the authority in the name of Jesus.
Jesus went about destroying the works of the devil. It is time that the Church went about destroying the works of the devil.
You’ve got to ask yourself, Who are am I?
Are the one that lifts up the name of Jesus and stands in victory? Or are you someone running down the street, naked? Who are you?
Relationship with Christ
You have to understand, it wasn’t that there was no power available in the name of Jesus, it wasn’t that they couldn’t do the works of God; it was because they didn’t know Jesus. The power and the anointing come through relationship. The Bible says that those who know their God will do exploits. When you know who your God is, and you spend time with the Holy Ghost, He will not allow you to stay the same. He will take you to places of victory.
Nobody likes to fight or go through difficult times. But when you start stepping into the place of overwhelming victory, you start stepping into a life of more than a conqueror, God will get you involved into fights to bring people into victory.
I remember one time when I was in school, there was this bully who wanted to fight me. He sat behind me in the morning class and he said, “After school, we are going to fight.” And I didn’t want to fight. So, all day, I’m thinking, men, I’m gonna fight this guy. Word spread around because people wanted to see a fight. I had one of my friends who before school ended, he said, “Hey, you need a skinner? I will be your skinner.” And this friend of mine was a big dude. Then I wasn’t scared anymore.
I want to let you know that you have a skinner, His name is Jesus. He doesn’t want you to fight, He jumps into the fight. He will take care of you, He’ll be with you but it is part of God’s plan for you to make that commitment and then yield to Him. God needs you to surrender to Him. How many of you are tired of seeing the pain of so many people that are hurting? Seeing your friends and family addicted to drugs, full of anger and depression; how many are tired of seeing the valley going to hell slowly and destroying the people around them? And when we cry out for God to do something, God is saying, “I did. I sent Jesus, you do something.”
We have the answer, His name is Jesus. All we have to do is be bold to preach the gospel, develop relationship with the Holy Spirit and do what He tells you to do and you will see deliverance, freedom and healing. God will use you and the devil will run away from you.
Luke 10:19
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
The other day, my wife went out with my daughter, they were thinking about purchasing something; they sent me pictures. All I said was, “Don’t mess with me, I’m watching the games.” She was waiting for me to say, “Do it, go for it.” I didn’t say that. She came home and I said, “Where is it?” She said, “I wanted you to be in agreement.” And I said, “You could have gotten it, you have all my money.” I wasn’t going to say, yes or no to any of it. She had the money to purchase if she’d wanted. She didn’t have to ask me for it, she had the power all along.
Jesus gave us power over all the power of the enemy, He also gave the authority to use the power. Then there is a promise—nothing will hurt you. The devil will manifest himself to try to put fear into your life, trying to make you take a step back but if you will stand your ground, knowing who you are in Jesus, nothing will be able to hurt you.
The devil could hurt the sons of Sceva because they didn’t know Jesus. They didn’t have the authority to use the name. Jesus has given you the authority to use His name.
Three Things that Took Place Through Believers
- Miracles began to happen
As Paul began to minister under the power of the Holy Ghost, fear came upon all the people. It wasn’t the fear of man or the devil; it was the fear of the Lord. They got to recognize that God is real. As a result, this changed everything. Once they encountered the power of God, it got rid of all the arguments. That is why when we minister, miracles flow by the power of God. Miracles are not something happening every now and then; miracles are the normal way of living for the Christian. If miracles, signs ad wonders are not flowing through your life, you are not doing it right. Miracles are part of your living.
The power of the Holy Spirit, because it was demonstrated, the fear of the Lord fell upon the people there, Satan began to bow in the name of Jesus through the hands of Paul. The Bible says those who believed began to do great exploits. It wasn’t one of the believers, it was many of the believers were being encouraged by the power of God flowing.
I was preaching in one city and we had such a great move of God, the Holy Spirit was flowing with miracles, afterwards the pastor came to me with tears. He said, “Pastor, today, I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to heal because I saw what God did through you and I know that God is not a respecter of persons. If God can do it through you, God will do it through me. And so, I believe from this day forward, I am going lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” This Pastor started his healing ministry and he’s doing very well.
- People Burned their Idols
The second thing that happened was people burnt their idols and began to follow the Lord. Listen, the reason why there are witchcraft, ouija boards, palm reading, people reaching into demonic powers for help, etc., is because those that carry the truth, the real power of God are not showing the power of God out there. Wherever there is darkness, the enemy can exist but not anymore. I believe God is raising a generation that is tired of religion, that want the Holy Ghost and they are going to take the power of God from city to city.
These people began to burn their occultic books. There are a lot of people with shrines in their home. You need to get rid of them. God is not pleased by idolatry.
- The Word of God Spread
The third thing that happened was the Word of God became known to all and many came into salvation. People are saying, they want to see revival; revival without the move of the Holy Spirit is not revival. If you want revival, start preaching, start ministering, start showing the things of God to others and people will come to the Lord because of the power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Three Truths of Who You Are
Going back to the question: Who are you? I want to give you three truths of who you are. And this is for those who have given their life to Jesus Christ.
- You are saved:
You are a new creation in Christ Jesus. You have been saved by the blood of Jesus.
- You are sanctified:
This means free from sin. Jesus set you free from the curse of sin and death. Sin is no longer in you to keep committing. If the Holy Spirit’s in you, you have a choice. If you have given your life to Jesus, you choose to sin because the chain and power that held you down before to sin without any help has been broken. So, if you keep sinning after you have been set free by Christ, then something is not right
- You are filled with the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:16-17
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
I don’t understand salvation without the Holy Ghost. I have heard people say, “I’m a Christian.” You ask them, “You gave your life to God?” They reply, “I said a prayer.” There’s a difference. I can look at someone and say something but if I didn’t really mean it, it isn’t true. The difference between saying a prayer and being born again—when you fully surrender to God, repent of your sins, the Spirit of God comes and stays on the inside of you. Death that was working inside of you comes out of you. The spirit of life comes inside of you.
You can’t tell me that you have given your life to God but you never had the infilling of the Holy Spirit. When someone truly surrenders to God, there is a transformation and change that happens on the inside of you. It is the Holy Spirit that confirms that you are a child of God.
Chapter 2: Power Over Your Thoughts
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
We have to begin to receive spiritual power over our thoughts. This authority and power is not just for others, it first has to start in you. Instead of being overcome by the temptations of the devil, we have to become more than conquerors of the things of the enemy.
Before the devils will leave when you begin to say the name of Jesus out of somebody, you have to deal with the devils that are attacking your life. Before you can set other people free, it is time for you to be free.
Everything I have been talking to you about are by your thoughts. The Bible says we are supposed to capture every thought. Do not allow it to stay in your mind, unjudged. You judge your thoughts and you judge yourself. If you have a thought of anger and fear, you have to judge that thought. When it comes, ask yourself this question: Is this thought from God? Is this His Word or is it something am feeling or I just heard today? Is this my reality, truth or emotion that I’m feeling right now?
I don’t know how to deal with emotions but what I do know is I honor my thoughts. My thoughts will impact my emotions. When a negative thought comes, we are supposed to capture that thought. You grab a hold of it and you judge it to the Word of God—Does the Word say that this is of God? What does the Word say concerning this thought? If the thought is contrary to the Word, you judge it of not being of God and take authority over it and cast it down in the name of Jesus.
For example: the thought of poverty. Oh, you don’t have enough money to make it. What are you going to do? You are not making enough money to take care of your bills. What are you going to do about your finances? They might fire you. You know you can’t sleep or rest…
Now, instead of taking hold of this thoughts and bringing them under judgement, you begin to respond to it by your actions—either in the way you treat your wife when she buys things without your permission or affirming you cannot afford some things. Instead of enjoying peace and love with your family, you exhibit fear and anger towards your family. Why? Because you chose to entertain a thought which you did not judge according to the Word of the Lord.
Do you know how many men I have ministered to because they had a thought that their wives were cheating on them? And they were so full of fear and anger that they wanted to kill their wives and themselves. And nothing had happened except for a thought. The Bible says the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus said He has come to give us life in abundance. His authority and power that He gives you to capture those thoughts, pulling them down and instead of being oppressed by the enemy, you are able to say, “No, I rebuke these thoughts right now in the name of Jesus. Whom God put together, no man shall separate. I thank You God that You blessed me with my wife. Your words says that he who finds a wife, finds a good thing and receives favor from the Lord. Lord, I thank You that my wife is my good thing and the favor of God is upon my life.”
What happens? The devil runs. Let me say this: your reaction to the truth should be greater than your reaction to the lie. If a lie would cause you to move in the place of death and hurting others, the truth should cause you to celebrate God in the highest.
Do not allow thoughts to stay in your mind unjudged. Judge every thought and bring it to captivity to the obedience of Christ.
You have to ask yourself when the thoughts come—is this God or the flesh?
Sometimes, the Spirit of the Lord will speak to you, it’s not nearly a word in the Scripture but concerning something going on in your life.
A pastor called me and said, “We have done some work and we have invoiced but they hadn’t paid us and things are getting very tight. I went to God and asked what to do and God told me to start sowing.” He began to sow into people’s lives—books, clothes, etc., as he did that, the blessings were released. Everything owed to him were paid and new work came in. He followed the voice of the Holy Ghost. What would have happened if he didn’t obey? He wouldn’t have experienced that blessing.
When a thought comes, there are two things you do; you either punish it or you celebrate it. If it is the thought of God, you celebrate it. That is why I like talking about what God says He would do. I celebrate it by talking about it. But if it is something that is of the devil, I punish it by capturing it and subjecting it to the Word of God. If it is of the devil, cast it down, rebuke it, stop listening to it. If it is of God, celebrate it.
I believe God is going to take you to higher levels of authority and power. You’re going to walk in victory and you no longer be covered by what you see or what you feel but you will walk by faith and not by sight. So that when the devil shows up, he knows whom he’s messing with. It is a question of who are you; he will know whom he is messing with and he will leave you alone, why because you have chosen to walk in authority and power over him.
Chapter 3: The Anointing
In chapter one, we see when the people in the synagogue tried to cast out devils without a relationship with Christ, the devils cried out and said, “Jesus I know, Paul I know but who are you?” These guys were beat up by devils. We are not supposed to be beat up by devils, we have power over the devils. We should not be afraid of devils and demons. Devil should be afraid of you. They should think twice on trying to touch your children. When you know who you are in Christ, devils should run from you. If you know the power and authority that Jesus has given you, you will walk in victory.
Luke 4:18-19
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Here Jesus is speaking from Isaiah.
What is anoint? Anoint means to smear. If you took oil and you anoint your head, you smeared that oil, it means that oil is upon you. Think about the anointing being like honey. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me and He had smeared…” meaning the power of God is smeared upon Him and all over Him to preach the gospel. Jesus was saying, “I Am not preaching with My strength, I Am preaching because I have been anointed by God to do this work. It is all over Me. I have to do it because it is calling Me to do this work.” And because the anointing is upon Him, He is declaring this anointing is to preach the Good news, to preach with power. What kind of power? To preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, set at liberty those who are oppressed. That’s what the anointing calls for Christ to do.
When Jesus was proclaiming this word, He possessed the Holy Ghost’s power upon Him to do the work. He was not just speaking words. He was declaring the will of God, the reality of who He is and what He was called to do, and because He declared and He was anointed, the anointing produced the work—healing the sick, bringing sight to the blind and setting people free.
He preached with power because of the anointing. When you are anointed, there are things that happen just because you are there. When we were in Washington, Sunday morning, I preached the message of deliverance. One woman testified that as I began to pray, things that have been holding unto her, began to come off her and she felt such a freedom and liberty like she never felt before. It took the anointing of the Holy Ghost to remove those devils tormenting her life. I didn’t know what was going on with her or what her situation was, but the Lord did and He was the One who sent me there to preach and there was anointing for her to be set free that day.
May the Lord use you to set people free in Jesus name.
Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
The power of the Holy Spirit will come upon you to make you a witness. The Holy Spirit smears you with the power of God to be a witness. Not just in your house but in your community and wherever you go. Some say, “I don’t know how to preach,” it is not that you don’t know how to preach, it is you need to receive the anointing to preach. When you receive this anointing, you cannot keep yourself from preaching. You have to speak it out and declare it. Do you think preaching is done with physical power? I tried to do it with my education and preparation; I prepared for a month to preach, when I stood up to preach, I was supposed to preach for 45 minutes but I said everything I prepared for 10 minutes. I failed so bad and I decided not to do it again. Why? I was doing it in my own strength but when the Holy Ghost came upon me to be a witness, I couldn’t keep my mouth shut. I will preach when I’m tired, strong, etc., all because of the anointing.
What does witness mean? To win souls, changing lives through your preaching. When we speak under the anointing of the Holy Ghost, there should be fruits—lives should be saved. You cannot talk about Jesus and He doesn’t show up. You don’t have to go to Bible School to be anointed, you don’t have to be praying 30 hours a day to be anointed. It is all about your heart and you pressing into the things of God and receiving from heaven and letting Him to overflow through your life.
After Jesus instructed the disciples, they began to wait for the Holy Ghost. There are people who are doing the work of God without the Holy Ghost. They go around telling people they are anointed. If you tell people that you are anointed, then you are not anointed.
When I was in Kenya, I was staying at this beautiful hotel. It was like a buffet of food. They had cake and I love cake. I served myself some piece of cake, I walked to the table smiling away, sat down. I ate the cake, it was almost like they made cake without sugar. It looked like cake, smelled like cake but it did not taste like cake. That is the way a lot of people are. They look like they are Holy Ghost anointed, talk like they are Holy Ghost anointed, but have no fruit to show for it.
Your fruits will find you out. Wherever Jesus went, people were saved, healed, delivered, etc. The proof is in the pudding, it is in the tasting of the cake. We can’t be Christians that talk like Christian, walk like Christians but our fruits are bad. What do we have to do? We have to do what Jesus said—wait upon the Lord. We have to wait to receive from the Holy Ghost. We have to have a desire and hunger for more of God. If you are not crying out to God for more of Him, pressing in to have encounters with God, God can’t use you because your heart is not after Him. God sees your heart and if you are trying to receive anointing to become something that He has not called you to be, you are living for yourself and not for Him.
There was a sorcerer in the Bible that saw the power of God on the apostles, he tried to buy the anointing. He wanted to use the power for his own selfish gains, the power of God was like another spell to him. Peter rebuked him.
God is not a commodity, you don’t purchase Him. He purchased you. He changes us, He changes our desires to be what He’s called us to be. We need to have a hunger for righteousness, a desire to be used by God. Waiting upon the Lord, pressing into the things of God.
Chapter 4: Authority in His Name
Philippians 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We have been talking about authority and power and because Jesus was faithful in obedience to the will of God. The Bible says that He loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes Him will not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus was the offering for our lives, He was the sacrifice for our lives to give everlasting life. All we have to do is believe in Him and what He did on the cross. But He had to yield to the will of God even at the time when He was in the garden of Gethsemane, He prayed the prayer of consecration, asking God’s will to be done. And because He was obedient to lay down His life, He paid a heavy price, He surrendered His life, He faced the pain, the guilt, persecution, the shame, His body was torn apart, then nailed to the cross. He did it all for you and me.
The Bible says, for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross. His love for us caused Him to yield to the will of God and to fulfil God’s plan of bringing salvation to you. Because He obeyed God faithfully, He has been given a name that is above every other name. there is power in the name of Jesus. In that name, devils are cast out, blind eyes are opened, the dead rise again, everything that has a name is under the name of Jesus.
The ultimate power is the name of Jesus. The victory that He accomplished on the cross—victory over sin, death, is all through the name of Jesus. Now, Jesus gives you authority to use His name.
Mark 16:15-18
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Jesus has given us the right to use His name, all you have to do is to be a believer. The signs will follow those who preach the gospel and believe. I don’t follow signs, signs follow me. Casting out devils is one of those signs, healing the sick is one of those signs. Divine protection is one of the signs.
We have the right to use the name of Jesus. No matter what the enemy put before you, no matter how darkness tries to interfere with your life, there is an anointing and power through the name of Jesus that is available.
…He humbled Himself and became obedient…
If we want the anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit, to flow through us, we have to humble ourselves. “Not my will but Your will, not my ways but Your ways, not my past but Your future, Lord.”
We have to be willing to lose everything so we could receive all of Him. And there are people as they step in into the anointing, they start out with the right heart, with humility and desire to do the will of God. But when God starts to use them, the anointing and the glory of God begins to be revealed in them, instead of giving all the glory to God, they now begin to divert it to themselves. It goes from His ministry to my ministry. Their lives change from all for Him to ‘now what is in it for me?’!
I want you to run the race that God has set before you but I also want you to finish the race that God has set before you. It is no good for you to start off in anointing with God but then because of your lack of maturity and humility, you stumble on the way because you’re now thinking, that anointing is a commodity, you can sell it to the highest bidder.
Pride will keep you from God’s power. No matter how anointed you think you are today and how much you have seen God work in your life, if you don’t keep your heart, you will set for downfall.
The anointing of the Holy Ghost and the flow in God is faithful but whatever you let in, the devil has access to that. If pride is operating in your life, it will find you out. That is why, all glory, all honour, everything belongs to the Lord.
What I’ve seen is since I began to yield to God, He always makes us look good. His glory covers you and people will begin to see Jesus through your life. You have to recognize that they are not seeing you but Jesus and you have to give it all back to God.
Six Steps to Cast Out Demons
I don’t speak just because it is something good I have to say, I give you tools because you are going to need them.
There are problems in society that are demonic influences and we need to cast those devils out. There are family members that are losing their minds, there are communities that are going down and you are not going to reason with them, neither will drugs fix them. There’s only one person that can set them free and that is Jesus and you need to carry that anointing to set them free.
There would be troubles that they will go through that cannot wait for Sunday. There are churches you bring them to and you will not have an answer. It doesn’t matter if the Preacher doesn’t have the answer; as long as you carry the answer.
Whether you are a Preacher or not, these signs and wonders are not given to Preachers but those who believe. You have to take your position of authority. It is time to stand up as a child of God and make yourself known. The world is calling out for deliverance. I turn on the TV and all I see are a bunch of people influenced by devils; someone needs to stand and command the demons out.
Understand it is by the power of God that you can cast out devils. I’m not interested in talking to them, counseling them, I will cast them out.
- Step 1: Take Authority over the devil
Luke 10:19
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
As much as you want to underline the word, authority and power, also underline the last part of that Scripture—and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Face that devil with the assurance that he doesn’t have power and authority over you, you have received authority and power over him in the name of Jesus. If you recognize that the devil will not hurt, then you have no reason to fear.
There are times that people will lose their control because they are possessed by the devil, you see all sorts of manifestations from them, they talk with a scary voice, I don’t want to hear what they have to say, I command them to shut and up and get out. What am I doing? I’m taking authority over them. Some times during deliverance sessions and these possessed have lost control of themselves, I put my hand on them and say, “Peace.” There are times, that I think people are demonic and they need to be free. I go into their room, I say, “I assign angels to take complete authority and peace in this place.” And there will be peace.
My aunt was the first person that got saved. She would walk the streets of New York late at night. We would be worried that she would be mugged. Then she will say, “If you saw one muscle on my angel’s arms, you’ll never be worried about me anymore.” She knew who she was. And guess what? There are more angels than there are devils. The Bible says that the angels excel in power. They are ministering servants unto the heirs of salvation. How many of you are heirs of salvation? The angels are there to minister and serve you as you do the work of the Lord.
The first thing you do when you see someone manifest in the devil—manifesting in anger, fear, depression, etc., you take authority over the demon. You address the spirit, not the person possessed. You don’t authority over a man but you have authority over devils.
- Step 2: Bind the devil
What is bind? Put handcuffs on them.
Matthew 18:18
“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Many times, when I go into an area, I bind the demonic influence over that area. We were in Olympia Washington, my wife looked at me and said, “There is an oppression in this area.” So, if I am to minister there, I will bind the principality over that territory.
- Step 3: Rebuke that devil
Luke 4:35
But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.
What does rebuke mean? I have been spanked and then I have been rebuked. I remember the rebuking more than I remember the spanking.
Rebuking means to express sharp disapproval. The funny thing is when we were in the world, we knew how to rebuke people, especially those you were angry at. Some of us have to start rebuking the devil instead of appeasing them.
You can’t rebuke the spirit of pornography if you keep accepting the spirit of pornography. You can’t rebuke the spirit of fear, if you keep accepting the spirit of fear. You can’t rebuke of addiction if you keep going back to that addiction. Some of you need to look at that situation and rebuke it directly.
How many years has the devil tried to destroy you? Rebuke the devil with power, you don’t beg him to leave, you order him to leave. You have to make sure that that devil knows he’s no longer welcomed. You have to talk to that devil that he knows without a shadow of doubt that you’re not playing games with him and you’re not going accept him in your life and you don’t want anything to do with him. He has to be your worst enemy. I don’t know a better way to write this; I’ll put a foot in him. I’ll kick him to the curb. I’ll make sure that he knows that he is no longer welcomed in my life and family.
Is he messing with your family? Rebuke him out of your family in Jesus name. When you start rebuking the devil, your bad friends may not want to hang out with you anymore. That same guy is the one who always invites you for drinking.
Understand that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. The devil comes in a form that entices the physical desires. He will tell you of all the good things you will enjoy but will not tell you about the consequences of that sin—how that adultery will destroy your marriage, how that drinking will destroy your relationships and destiny, how curses are introduced into your generation, etc. The devil isn’t there to cause you to stumble in a moment of the flesh, he is there to destroy your kids, marriage, peace, health, career, etc.
- Step 4: You cast the devil
You rebuke the devil and command him to get out. Don’t forget everything you’re doing, you are doing from the position of authority. You don’t ask him to get out, you command him. It might be the spirit of perversion in your life or someone else’s life, it might find out that your kids are dealing with these things. The devil is a little sneaky, he might have sneaked through a friend into your kid’s life. You deal with the spirit, not your kid. You can counsel to your kid where necessary but deal with whatever demon that is causing him or her to misbehave.
- Step 5: Straighten your brother/sister with the Word
John 5:14
Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
- Step 6: Shut the door
That’s why things need to get out of the house. The spirit of adultery, alcoholism, etc., clean out everything that represents them in your life and house. You shut the door so he does not have access in your life. If there is a child influencing your kid negatively, end the relationship. There is a time to cancel but deal with the issue spiritually first.
